Debunking Medical Tourism Myths

Costa Rica is becoming a hot spot for patients seeking medical and dental care from countries such as the United States, Canada and Europe.

But for these patients to make such a decision they had to do a lot of research and also overcome some perceptions about what it is to have their procedures done in a place which considered to be a third-world country.

Over the years, we have observed that there certain “fears” based on myths patients have about the whole concept of medical tourism.

Myth 1: Foreign doctors are not as professional as doctors back home.

This cannot be farther from the truth, take a look at the formation of our team of talented doctors and you will discover that they have not only studied in the most prominent universities, they also invested in specializing in a given field. Both Dr. Telma Rubinstein and Dr. Josef Cordero are also members of the Prosthodontic Section of the Collegium Internationale of Oral Implantologists and the International Congress of Oral Implantologists in the United States.

Myth 2: Foreign Dentists Lack Equipment

If you come over and have a tour around Prisma Dental, you will notice that we are not only very well equipped with state-of-art technology used for radiology but we also have our own laboratory. How many dental clinics back home do you know have this type of integrated facilities that are aimed to maximize the usage time and at the same time also guarantee the quality of each bridge, crown, veneer or implant?

Myth 3: The Material´s Quality is Subpar

If you have a look at many of the products we offer you will see that the providers that we use are the same ones you have back home. Captek Crowns for example are the same crowns you would have back home. At Prisma, quality is so important that we import directly from providers, thus cutting the cost while ensuring only the best materials will be used.
