Teeth SOS – Holiday Top Lifesavers

Happy Holidays! We hope that you are having an amazing time with your family and friends.

It is the season to be out and about, sharing, dining, and traveling and we understand that sometimes things simply happen in the most unthinkable situations.

You were out with the kids enjoying the winter snow and suddenly caught yourself enjoying a snow fight.

Who would have known that one of those little frozen balls would impact you right in the face and cause your dental crown to fall?

These are the type of situations that might happen when all dentists might have their day off since it is the holidays. What should you do? Read on.

Dental Cement
This is our top life-saver; you can use it to place back a fallen crown (given that you can find it) and wait until you can make an appointment at your dentist. You can also use it when a filling falls off. Do note however that using dental cement is only a temporary solution.

Cold Compress
This item is a must-have for every home; it is very handy and practical and might help you a lot in case of excruciating tooth pain provoked by unknown circumstances. Toothache is considered one of the most common maladies; it can be triggered chewing by hard bits of food or you might have a partially dislodged tooth. Apply the compress on the outside of your cheek or mouth.

Painkillers
Whenever toothache is involved, whether it was caused by impact or not, painkillers will definitely save the day. A very important point to note is that painkillers are meant to be swallowed. Smashing painkillers and applying it to your teeth directly will burn gum tissue and will not be effective as a painkiller.

Be Friends With Your Dentist
We cannot emphasize this enough; having a dentist near your area that you trust you trust and can call in case of emergencies is definitely a lifesaver. So even if they are not able to attend you immediately because of the holidays you will feel secure and have the certainty that you will be attended as soon as possible and that you are under the care of an expert.
